How do I get started?

If you’d like to start selling your comics through ACC, follow these steps:

  1. Contact us at atlantapickers@gmail.com or call (770) 906-8846
  2. Be prepared to describe what you have in some detail -- if you have a few key issues that you think might have real value, photos are very helpful. If it’s a large collection, let us know approximately how large and what era(s) the books are from. Any background info about how the books were acquired and stored is also helpful.
  3. We’ll arrange to come see the books, or ask you to bring them to our Atlanta warehouse, depending on the circumstances.
  4. If we think we can bring your books to market effectively, and you like the terms we offer, we’ll prepare a contract and ask you to bring the books to the warehouse for storage and sorting.

How does the sales process work?

Our staff works tirelessly at listing the books in our inventory either as individual issues or as lots on eBay. Because eBay sales are timed, books are constantly rotating in and out of active status every day, at all hours. We typically have more than 20,000 eBay sales in progress at any given time.

Books that sell are shipped out by our staff within 1 day of the purchase for maximum buyer satisfaction. We assume all the work and overhead of shipping materials, customer service, employee payments, etc.

How much of each sale will I get?

Our consignment split offer to you will be based mostly on our estimate of two things:

  1. The value of your collection
  2. How much work it will be to bring your collection to market

The second estimate is partially based on how organized your collection is. If your books are grouped by title and in order of issue number, the amount of work it will take us to find key issues and group books together for sale as lots will go down considerably. Having your collection organized is not a must, but it does help the process move faster.

ACC’s percentage of the sale includes all of our overhead, including eBay fees, credit card charges, staff payroll, the warehouse facility, shipping supplies, etc. Even with these things factored in, the consignment percentage split will ALWAYS favor the owner of the collection.

How can I tell if a particular book you have for sale is my copy or someone else’s?

All of our consignment partners receive an unique inventory code that we place in the subject line of each eBay listing. You’ll see them in our listings: J28, CH2, BN4, etc. By paying attention to these codes you’ll be able to see which of your books are currently for active sale, and how much they sell for.

How soon will my books be listed?

We typically list the first books from any new consignment partner within 1 week of receiving them. If we’re particularly busy or if your collection isn’t well organized it may take longer. New books will be listed daily until your full collection is in our inventory rotation.

We can’t keep our entire inventory on active sale all at once because of the way eBay works, but we tend to list the most valuable books first and always have at least some inventory from all our partners live at any given time.

When and how will I receive payment?

Consignment partners receive bi-weekly checks by mail for the first month - two months, after which the frequency drops to once a month, and eventually quarterly. We’ll stay in touch with you regularly so you’ll know when to expect payments. Payments can be mailed to you or picked up at our warehouse in Atlanta.
